Lauren Marozas, CO wins the 2019 Richard G. Scobee Memorial Award. This national recognition is given to the orthoptist, and training program, who received the highest written and oral scores on that year’s board certification. She was presented the award after the 50th Richard G. Scobee Lecture given by pediatric neuro-ophthalmologist Michael C. Brodsky, MD – which we all found fitting considering she loved her neuro studies.
Lauren joined Children’s Eye Care’s orthoptic training program in 2017 after completing her BS in neuroscience at University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
Children’s Eye Care’s training program is led by certified orthoptists Judy Petrunak, CO, COT and Mary DeYoung-Smith, CO, COMT with the assistance from Martha Wright, CO, COT, Stephen Burwell, CO, COT, Terra Haller, CO, Alexandra O. Apkarian, MD, John D. Baker, MD, Lisa Bohra, MD, Elena M. Gianfermi, MD, Rajesh C. Rao, MD, John D. Roarty, MD and Leemor B. Rotberg, MD.
During her training, she worked extremely hard learning this field. We are proud that she has chosen to stay with us as a staff orthoptist. Lauren is the fourth student of Children’s Eye Care’s training program and our third student to win the Richard G. Scobee Memorial Award.
