Lisa Bohra, MD is a pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismus surgeon. Dr. Bohra is highly trained and skilled in pediatric strabismus, pediatric cataract surgery, pediatric glaucoma surgery, treatment of retinopathy or prematurity and adult strabismus surgery. She has a special interest, and extensive experience, in treating children with uveitis, congenital glaucoma and many other genetic eye conditions. Dr. Bohra sees patients at Children’s Eye Care’s Clinton Township, Detroit and West Bloomfield offices.
In 2002, Dr. Bohra was the first woman to join the Department of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Dr. Bohra is now the Chief of Ophthalmology at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Her primary hospital affiliations include Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Beaumont Hospital. She’s also on staff at Ascension St John’s Hospital and Hurley Medical Center to service the neonatal intensive care unit by screening premature babies’ eyes for retinopathy of prematurity.
Dr. Bohra has published peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on pediatric ophthalmology and participates in clinical research projects, including national multi-center trials. She is a Principal Investigator for PEDIG (Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group) and an Oral Examiner of the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Women in Ophthalmology and American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus where she participates on several professional committees which includes Children’s Eye Foundation of AAPOS’s Vision Through Music committee. She teaches pediatric ophthalmology fellows as well as ophthalmology residents from Beaumont Eye Institute, Henry Ford Health System, Kresge Eye Institute and Ascension Macomb-Oakland Hospital.
She’s been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by US News and World Health, as well as continually honored as a Top Doc by Hour Detroit magazine.
