Children’s Eye Care has partnered with the Children’s Hospital of Michigan to run their Department of Ophthalmology. Through that involvement we offer pediatric ophthalmology training for the ophthalmology residents of Kresge Eye Institute, Beaumont Eye Institute, Henry Ford Health System and the Michigan State University Ophthalmology Consortium.

The residents are exposed to a wide variety of pediatric eye conditions under supervision by fellowship trained ophthalmic subspecialists. Children are referred from the many pediatric specialty clinics at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan as well as from pediatricians and ophthalmologists throughout metropolitan Detroit and the state of Michigan. The residents gain experience in performing comprehensive pediatric eye examinations and advanced surgical skills for pediatric ophthalmology conditions. The clinical staff includes eleven fellowship-trained pediatric ophthalmologists and three board-certified orthoptists.

I think the rotation was fantastic, really loved working with everyone and it was truly a blast.
I was initially very intimidated by peds and came out of this rotation with a great understanding and appreciation; I have intended to pursue surgical retina training but now would love to go to a fellowship that would provide great pediatric retina experience as well. All the attendings were so fun to learn from; and Mary was such a pleasure to learn from. She is so passionate and has a special talent in teaching complex topics, and I was always picking her brain to learn a new topic.
Thank you all for such a great rotation, and all the support in making this the most educational experience possible.
