Pediatric & Adult Strabismus Ophthalmologist Alexandra O. Apkarian, MD

We’re excited to introduce our newest eye doctor.

Alexandra O. Apkarian, MD practices comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus. Through her intensive training, she developed a strong clinical interest in strabismus in both children and adults as well as a variety of other common pediatric ophthalmology disorders.

As a mother of one young daughter and an upcoming second daughter due later this year, Dr. Apkarian understands the concern parents have when seeking care for their children. She is committed to offering excellent care specific to the unique needs of each individual child and the comfort of their parents.

Alexandra O. Apkarian, MD will be seeing patients in our Detroit, Dearborn and West Bloomfield offices.


Accepting Applications for the 2014-2016 Orthoptic Program

Children's Eye Care OrthoptistsChildren’s Eye Care is now accepting applications for next year’s orthoptic program.
Children’s Eye Care offers a comprehenstive orthoptic internship. Our orthoptic program provides a wide and varied clinical experience, didactic instruction and clinic research exposure. Students will train with our staff orthoptists and ophthalmologists at our four locations located in metropolitan Detroit.

First Student Graduates from Orthoptic Training Program

First orthoptic student, Martha Wright, CO, COT, graduates from CEC’s orthoptic training program.


Martha Wright, CO, COT is the first student to graduate from CEC’s orthoptic training program. We are proud to announce that our first orthoptic student has successful completed our orthoptic training program. Martha Wright, CO, COT has completed the intensive program as well as passed her written boards and oral boards with the American Orthoptic Council. Martha is now recognized as a board-certified orthoptist.

And, we are lucky and excited that she chose to join our practice as a staff orthoptist. She will primarily be working in our West Bloomfield office and our Dept of Ophthalmology clinic at Children’s Hospital of Michigan.

Congratulations to Martha and her fabulous teachers and mentors at Children’s Eye Care. Martha joins a group of highly trained pediatric ophthalmologists and orthoptists who are passionate about the visual development of children.
